Case Study:
The High Cost of Recruitment
Industry:
Software Company
Company Size:
30-50
Dilemma: Find a staffing solution or recruitment alternative to paying exorbitant employment agency fees, while increasing the quality or quantity of high caliber candidates
Background:
Our customer had been using traditional staffing agencies and executive search firms for years. In fact, every hiring manager in every department had their favorite placement agency, who charged the company contingency fees of 30% - 50% of the candidate’s annual salary, depending on the seniority of the position. The annual expenditures to the company were staggering and to make matters worse, 30% of those fees were a complete waste, as the candidates either left or were terminated within only a few months of paying the employment agency fees.
Helping you hire is a hybrid. We have both veteran executive headhunters and recruiters on staff, all with substantial recruitment experience creating staffing solutions in their respective niches. (more)

Staffing agencies are typically a resource for companies looking to outsource their recruitment needs. A staffing agency may also be referred to as an employment agency; placement agency, recruitment firm or a search firm, all in different variations and may often be used interchangeably.
Staffing agencies typically locate candidates based on the hiring needs of the individual company. Some agencies focus on providing personnel for a short time on a temporary basis; while others specialize in full-time permanent placements. These placement agencies usually charge a percentage of the candidates annual salary, typically from 20%-50% for full-time permanent employees, and a markup of 20%-50% on the hourly rate for each temporary hire.
Example: If a company hires a software engineer with an annual salary of $125,000, a traditional staffing agency may charge that company anywhere from $25,000 - $62,500 for the hire. Some agencies may ask for partial payment up front, which is known as a retainer. However, most recruitment agencies offer what's called a contingency fee structure, whereby the company doesn't have to make any sort of payment until a candidate accepts an offer. Most agencies offer some sort of guarantee, that if the employee leaves within 30 days, they will find a replacement for no additional fee.
The individuals who finds the candidates and typically work at employment agencies are most often referred to as a recruiter or a headhunter. (more)
